Here are some closer shots of the rough heads.
I came up with a solution to bridge the gap between the original Ghidorah wings that had a fan-like structures with fingers emanating from it's sides to the desired bat wing structure. I felt this design struck a nice sense of creepiness in relation to the fan-like fundamental structure with it's resemblance spider legs, but ultimately fulfilling the desire to have a bat-like silhouette.
I was brought on to the Godzilla: King of the Monsters pre-production phase through Studio ADI to help design Rodan, King Ghidorah and Mothra. Before focusing on Rodan, I worked on King Ghidorah / Monster Zero. I went through a handful of designs, starting with quick thumbnail silhouettes, then flushed out / blocked out, rough 3D concepts all under the supervised by Tom Woodruff Jr.
This design explored a more serpentine body suggested by Director Michael Dougherty.
